Hi, I'm Lara.

If you've stopped by here you're probably looking for someone to help you find words for something that is difficult to express. How do we sum up a life? Or how do we translate our decision to commit in love to one person, in a ceremony that lasts just thirty minutes?

I have always been a writer. I work professionally as a filmmaker but I decided to also train as a celebrant so that I could use my love of people and writing to do something helpful and good.

I write sincere, warm and elegant ceremonies. I am an independent celebrant so am not tied to any belief system and work with people of any or no faith.

Whether it's a big and boisterous wedding you're looking for or a small and dignified funeral, my goal is to listen to your needs and find the story of the life or lives that is to be told and reflect that back to you in a way which feels meaningful and worthwhile.

At home in my mother's garden, hair usually unbrushed, laughter wrinkles, an occasional spot, surrounded by books and dogs, writing poems and drinking coffee. In my little life I have been a school teacher, have made a feature film, have run a cinema, have hosted dozens if not hundreds of air bnb guests, have written plays for children, have danced with the deaf, have ridden horses, taken overnight trains, got knocked down and got back up again. I'm a tough cookie with a heart of gold.

Endings are not always expected, indeed they can come at any time.

Farewell ceremonies, or funerals, are but steps on the journey of mourning, but they are important ones. Saying good bye matters, if you can say good bye well it affects what happens next. Every life, however long or short, needs remembering and marking. There are different ways we can do this together. I am here to help in whatever way is right for you.
