Lara the Celebrant

Hi, I'm Lara.

If you've stopped by here you're probably looking for someone to help you find words for something that is difficult to express. How do we sum up a life? Or how do we translate our decision to commit in love to one person, in a ceremony that lasts just thirty minutes?

I have always been a writer but I decided to also train as a celebrant so that I could use my love of people and writing to do something helpful and good.

I write sincere, warm and elegant ceremonies. I am an independent celebrant so am not tied to any belief system and work with people of any or no faith.

Whether the wedding or funeral you are planning is to be large or small, formal or informal, my goal is to listen to your needs and find the story of the life or lives that is to be told and reflect that back to you in a way which feels meaningful and worthwhile.

I offer ceremonies in English, French, German or Italian, nationally and internationally. I live between London and Lancashire and am happy to travel to wherever you would like your ceremony to be held.

Honouring a life that has been fully lived

Endings are not always expected, indeed they can come at any time.

Farewell ceremonies, or funerals, are but steps on the journey of mourning, but they are important ones. Saying good bye matters, if you can say good bye well it affects what happens next. Every life, however long or short, needs remembering and marking. There are different ways we can do this together.  I am here to help in whatever way is right for you.

Reviews

  • "We were taken aback at her level of research to find poetry, lyrics and phrases that fit our ceremony perfectly and brought laughter and tears aplenty."

    Sophie and Cathal

  • "What made our ceremony truly unforgettable was Lara’s beautiful delivery…entirely in Italian! Not only did she speak it really well, but she captured all the emotion, humour and warmth we hoped for in a way that felt so natural and heartfelt."

    Alessia and Lliria

  • "It was a wedding ceremony that everyone will remember for all the right reasons. So many people have commented that you ‘made the day’, or that they haven’t been to a wedding like it before. It was so personal and funny and full of laughter, which was exactly the brief you were given."

    Milly and Ash

  • "We thought we knew it all, but at the end, we had an incredible surprise of a poem, a poem that was detailed to our very first days as a couple. Again, it had me and a lot of our guests in tears – that’s how special it was. The talent and time that went into writing this exquisite piece is incredible."
